In his presentation, Prof. Manneke emphatically stated that no one part of a scientific work stands out more important than another, the most important thing is the conformity and close relationship between each part in the writing structure.

This alignment, continued Prof. Manneke, must be clear and be the main concern on four crucial elements: the formulation of the research problem, the methodology used, the tools chosen, and the final goal to be achieved. These four elements are the main focus and have been scrutinized extra-carefully by  editors and journal reviewers.

Prof. Manneke emphasized that quality scientific work always starts from the formulation of specific and detailed research problems. A sharp problem formulation helps researchers and readers identify research gaps or knowledge gaps that are to be filled by the proposed research.

In addition to the formulation of the problem, the role of the Literature Review is also highlighted. A comprehensive literature review is the key to finding  the right research gap, ensuring the validity of the research, and proving that the author has authority because he has conducted due diligence on the building of knowledge in his field.

To solve the problem, the selection of Methodology and Theoretical Framework is decisive. The methodology should contain clear and sequential steps, procedures, and sequences, with a strong justification for the selection of theoretical tools. Prof. Manneke challenged the authors to ensure that the theoretical tools chosen are really appropriate and effective, and do not seem forced, especially if they are only based on the likes or popularity of the theory.

Finally, Research Objectives should be formulated as  clear outcomes and not just activities (such as "analyzing" or "reviewing"). The goal must demonstrate academic significance to the development of knowledge, contribution to the social/cultural community, or usefulness in influencing a particular policy. In essence, the research objective must show what will be achieved or produced if the research problem can be answered satisfactorily.

The discussion session was more interesting and interactive with the role of Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA as the moderator. The presence of the Deputy Director of SPs Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, MA and the Secretary of the Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Studies Dr. Maswani, MA also enriched the academic atmosphere in the event.
