Alfiah Doctoral Promotion Exam: Islamic Education, Safe School, and Bullying
Auditorium of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, SP NEWS – The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the 1668th Doctoral Promotion Exam in the Auditorium Room of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 with the promovenda Alfiah.
Alfiah is a student of the Doctoral program in Islamic Studies with a Concentration in Islamic Education. His dissertation is entitled "Islamic Education, Safe School, and Bullying (Islamic School Strategy in Developing a Safe Learning Environment at SMPQ Darul Fattah Bandar Lampung)". The issue of bullying or bullying that often haunts the world of education is the central point of discussion.
The main focus of Alfiah's research is to analyze how the strategy for developing a safe school environment can reduce the number of bullying. He took an in-depth look at the practice that occurred at SMPQ Darul Fattah Bandar Lampung, an institution that became a living laboratory for his qualitative research.
The interesting thing about Alfiah's findings is her success in dissecting the integration between moral education and the principles of Social Emotional Learning (SEL). According to him, the essence of Islamic education is not just the transfer of knowledge, but the formation of character that is in harmony with students' social-emotional abilities in building a child-friendly school ecosystem.
The research method used by Alfiah is very comprehensive. With the design of a case study, he conducted an investigation through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). This approach allows him to absorb the objective realities on the ground about how religious schools are transformed into safe spaces for students.
In her presentation, Alfiah emphasized that moral values at SMPQ Darul Fattah do not only stop at understanding cognitive or moral character . Through the right strategy, these values are internalized into real behavior or performance character, so that students not only know what is good, but are also able to behave well consistently.
There are at least seven key factors found in this research, ranging from the emotional closeness of teachers and students to the implementation of a humanistic reward-punishment system . Unlike other schools that may implement a rigid zero tolerance, this school emphasizes more on value awareness and intensive coaching that touches the heart.
In addition, the supervision system through Mutābaʿah and the use of digital communication are important pillars in maintaining the safety of students. Intensive parental involvement and teacher role models complement this synergy, creating a positive school climate that significantly reduces bullying incidents.
Theoretically, this research makes a great contribution to the discourse on safe school environment. Alfiah succeeded in injecting a new perspective into the established theories of Reeves and Cohen which had been emphasizing more physical and psychological aspects in the context of secular education in the West.
Alfiah offers the model of "Safe School Based on Islamic Morals". This model proves that Islamic values and social emotional learning can go hand in hand as an effective bullying prevention strategy in the modern era. This is a breath of fresh air for other Islamic schools to adopt similar steps.
Alfiah is expected to continue to make a real contribution to the world of education, especially in creating a learning environment that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also safe, peaceful, and full of morals.

After paying attention to the writing of the dissertation, the comments of the examiner team and the promovendus' answers, the examiner team determined that Alfiah graduated with the title of Very Satisfactory. Alfiah is the 1668th Doctor in the field of Islamic Studies, doctoral program of the Graduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. (JA)
