Fini Fajrini Doctoral Promotion Test, Analysis of Continuous Quality Improvement in Sharia Hospitals Based on Model 4I

Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, SPs NEWS: The Graduate School of the State Islamic University (SPs UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the 1616th Doctoral Promotion Exam at the SPs UIN Jakarta Theater Room on Thursday, February 27, 2025 with the promovendus Fini Fajrini.

Fini Fajrini is a student of the Doctoral Program in Islamic Studies with a Concentration in Religion and Health. He wrote a dissertation entitled "Analysis of Continuous Quality Improvement in Sharia Hospitals Based on Model 4I (Isti'ānah, Isti'ādhah, Istiṭā'ah, Istiqāmah) on Improving Patient Satisfaction and Hospital Performance". This study highlights the importance of quality sharia hospital standards, framed with Islamic sharia values, in improving patient satisfaction and hospital performance.

Fini Fajrini uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods in her research. In the quantitative stage, he involved 195 patient respondents and 22 management respondents from Tangerang City Hospital and Sari Asih Serang Hospital. At the qualitative level, it involved 22 informants to answer the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) instrument and 5 informants for in-depth interviews.

The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between all standard variables of sharia hospitals on patient satisfaction. Facility variables are the factor that most affects patient satisfaction. In addition, sharia certification has been proven to increase customer retention at the Tangerang City Hospital and the retention and acquisition of new customers at the Sari Asih Serang Hospital.

Modeling using AHP analysis shows that the Isti'ānah  scenario optimistically improves patient satisfaction and sharia hospital performance, followed by Istiṭā'ah, Istiqāmah, and Isti'ādhah. This shows that the application of spiritual values in sharia hospital management has a significant positive impact.

The conclusion of this study is that sharia hospital certification provides satisfaction to patients, and facilities are the factors that most affect patient satisfaction. The sharia concept in government-owned hospitals can be developed through the implementation of a vision and mission that is concretely defined by regulations, while in private hospitals, the sharia concept can become a  strong brand image.

This research is expected to contribute to the development of sharia hospitals in Indonesia, as well as improve the quality of health services in accordance with Islamic values.
