Rifdah Meidianty Thesis Exam, Inclusive Qur'an Learning Management
SPs Theater Room UIN Jakarta, SPs NEWS: The Graduate School of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held the 2766th Thesis Exam in the SPs Theater Room of UIN Jakarta, on Thursday, July 24, 2025 with candidate Rifdah Meidianty.
Rifdah Meidianty is a student of the Master of Islamic Studies study program with a concentration in Islamic Religious Education. Rifdah wrote a thesis entitled "Inclusive Qur'an Learning Management (Case Study of Al-Qur'an Braille and Sign Learning for Non-Disabled Students at IIQ Jakarta)"
This study comprehensively examines the effectiveness of learning management and the significant impact of Qur'an courses designed specifically for people with disabilities, but uniquely, they are also followed by non-disabled students at IIQ Jakarta. Using a mixed methods approach, Rifdah managed to uncover how this integration not only improves technical competence, but also fosters empathy and social awareness.
The results of the study show that the entire learning management process, from planning, implementation, organization, to supervision, is carried out quite effectively. Nevertheless, Rifdah did not deny that there were several obstacles, especially related to the availability of supporting facilities and the level of pedagogical readiness of students in facing this inclusive learning challenge. Another interesting finding was the ability of students to master the skills of reading and writing the Qur'an Braille and cuing the Qur'an, although there is still a gap in their confidence, especially in the practice of teaching the Qur'an Braille.
Furthermore, this thesis reveals that this inclusive learning carries important implications in several aspects. First, there is the formation of relevant pedagogical technical competencies. Second, there is a strengthening of commitment and social awareness among students. And third, the opening of an inclusive network of Qur'an teachers. All of these implications strategically support the development of a more inclusive and equitable religious higher education system in Indonesia.
Fundamentally, Rifdah's thesis argues that inclusive learning management goes far beyond just technical mastery. He emphasized that this approach is able to encourage value transformation in non-disabled students, realizing deep empathy, strong social commitment, and readiness to make a real contribution to education that reaches all levels of society, including people with disabilities.
This research also strengthens the views of Neri Wijayanti and Febrian Arif Wicaksana (2023) who emphasize the contribution of the implementation of POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management in the style of George R. Terry to the achievement of educational goals systematically. However, Rifdah also offers a new perspective that distinguishes him from MS. Farooq (2007) who focuses on Quality Planning, Quality Improvement, and Quality Control. This thesis shows that success in the context of inclusive learning is not only determined by the quality of technical management, but also by social alignment and the continuity of graduate contributions.
The results of this study are also in line with the thoughts of Nurnaningsih (2023), Al-Aoufi (2012), and Hafizhah Zulkifli (2022) who always emphasize the importance of empowering Human Resources (HR) and increasing the accessibility of Qur'an education for people with disabilities. Thus, Rifdah Meidianty's thesis is not only a valuable contribution to the treasures of science, but also an inspiration for the development of inclusive education in the future.
Rifdah Meidianty successfully defended his thesis under the guidance of Suparto, M.Ed, Ph.D, and was tested in front of a board of examiners consisting of Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D, Suparto, M.Ed, Ph.D, Prof. Muhammad Zuhdi, M.Ed, Ph.D and Dr. Suwendi, M.Ag.
After paying attention to the thesis writing, the comments of the examiner team and the candidate's answers, the examiner team determined that Rifdah Meidianty graduated with the title of Very Satisfactory. Rifdah Meidianty is the 2766th Doctor in the field of Islamic Studies, in the master's program of the Graduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. (JA)
