Selected Three Best Papers from 93 Papers at the 6th ICIIS 2023
Banjarmasin, SCHOOL NEWS online— 93 papers were successfully presented by academics-researchers from various universities at the international conference collaborating with three PTKIN Postgraduate Schools (SPs), 'The 6th International Colloquium on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies (ICIIS)'. Three of the papers were selected as the best papers in this event.
The joint conference with three SPs PTKIN, SPs UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, SPs UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, and SPs UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi was held at the same time as 'The Fifth Annual Postgraduates Conference on Moslem Society (APCoMs) 2023'. The conference, which was held at UIN Banjarmasin, Tuesday-Thursday (19-21/9/2023), took the theme 'Religion, Education, Science and Technology towards a More Inclusive and Sustainable Future'.
Director of SPs UIN Jakarta, Prof. Zulkifli MA Ph.D in his speech said that the theme of this conference departed from the development of artificial intelligence and the massive impact of climate change recently. "(The conference, ed.) aims to explore ideas, both in the form of research results and thought concepts about how religion and education respond to the development of artificial intelligence technology and climate change," he explained again.
Professor Zulkifli revealed that the committee itself received registrations for participant papers from hundreds of university lecturers. However, only 93 papers were declared to have passed the review board selection and were then presented at the conference.
All presentations of research results were delivered in a marathon throughout the three days of the activity. Furthermore, dozens of these papers were recommended for publication in indexed journals and proceedings. This was after the papers presented first were refined again based on expert input.
"Selected papers will be recommended as articles ready for publication in recognized international journals, such as those indexed by SCOPUS," he explained.
Furthermore, the Professor of Social Anthropology at UIN Jakarta expressed his appreciation for holding this conference. The collaboration of the three SPs PTKIN, SPs UIN Jakarta, SPs UIN Banjarmasin, and SPs UIN Jambi is going well. Therefore, representing the committee, he expressed his thanks to the key speakers, participants and committee.
Director of SPs UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Syukri MA, and Deputy Director of Postgraduate Studies at UIN Antasari Banjarmasin, Dr. Wahyudin M.Pd.I, also appreciated the organization of this activity. Both agreed that the conference provided benefits not only in encouraging research and article writing, it also encouraged stronger academic partnerships within the PTKIN environment.
"In the future, hopefully this conference will continue to grow by reaching a wider range of PTKIN postgraduate programs. "We can use this as a meeting space for kinship, friendship, as well as scientific celebrations, a medium for interaction and exchange of ideas," said Professor Syukri.
Three Papers Become the Best Papers
Meanwhile, expert reviewers determined the three best papers at this ICIIS event. First best, paper entitled 'Language Concept in Communication of Learning Islamic Studies at Sea Tribe, Lingga Island' written by Diana Rozelin, Ahmad Syukri, Pirhat Abbas, and Muhaimin from UIN Sultan Thaha Saifudin Jambi
Second best, Iraq and the Tradition of Qur'anic Linguistic Interpretation: The Study of Fadil Salih al-Samarra'i, author Mukhamad Saifunnuha, Kusmana, and Yusuf Rahman from UIN Jakarta. Meanwhile, the third best was Abderraouf Ben Halima's Mystical Healing (Study in Psychotherapy and Sufism), authored by Muhammad Rusydi from UIN Antasari Banjarmasin.
One of the committee members contacted by SCHOOL NEWS Online, Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem MA Ph.D revealed that the next ICIIS conference is scheduled at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). UIN Jakarta and IIUM themselves already have a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on academic cooperation.
"The cooperation agreement between SPS UIN and the IIUM postgraduate study program will be signed soon," he added.
For this reason, Professor Maila appealed to PTKIN academic researchers, lecturers and postgraduate students to prepare their best papers. According to him, international conferences are important moments in strengthening the depth of paper analysis to be prepared into articles ready for publication in indexed international journals.
