SPs UIN Jakarta Holds Double Degree Cooperation Concert
Hotel ADIA Convention Center - The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta took strategic steps in realizing its commitment as a world-class university. Located at the ADIA Convention Center Hotel, from September 22 to 24, 2025, SPs held a Double Degree Cooperation Concert aimed at formulating official guidelines for dual degree programs.
This event was opened directly by the Director of SPs, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, MA. In his remarks, Prof. Zulkifli expressed his appreciation to the Vice Deans for Academic Affairs and faculty representatives who were present. He emphasized that this concert is a crucial moment that is expected to produce the Double Degree Cooperation Guidelines, which will be the operational basis for all future double degree cooperation initiatives .
The main focus of the discussion on the first day was the potential for cooperation with one of Australia's leading universities, The University of Queensland (UQ). The speakers presented, Nadia Sarah and Fitrianti (Principal Adviser South East Asia The University of Queensland), explained in detail about the double degree cooperation scheme that is most likely to be realized between SPs UIN Jakarta and UQ. This exposure is a concrete initial guide in exploring international academic partnerships.
On the second day, the first session presented a successful case study from universities in Indonesia. Dr. Hendriyani, S.Sos, M.Si (Head of the Department of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia), shared UI's valuable experience in establishing double degree cooperation, including with The University of Queensland. This experience provides practical insight into the challenges and strategies for success in the implementation of a dual degree program.
The next session continued with a discussion of policies and opportunities for double degrees by two university leaders, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi, S.Ag, SH, MH, MA (Vice Rector for Academic Affairs) and Din Wahid, MA, Ph.D (Vice Rector for Cooperation). Prof. Tholabi emphasized that as the largest Islamic university with an international reputation, UIN Jakarta must affirm its commitment to providing higher education that is relevant to global demands.
Prof. Tholabi added that schemes such as double degrees, joint degrees, and twinning programs are strategic doors for students to enrich cross-cultural experiences, as well as build a modern and superior Islamic academic reputation in the international arena. Improving the quality of graduates through dual programs is a top priority of the university.
Meanwhile, Din Wahid, Ph.D, also conveyed a list of foreign universities that have collaborated with UIN Jakarta. He highlighted the need for further deepening, especially in the context of double degree cooperation with the intended partner universities. He underlined the importance of a joint commitment from all elements of the university to produce guidelines that can be used as a strong basis in establishing such cooperation.
The highlight of this concert activity was the Discussion of Guidelines for Double Degree Cooperation in the last session. This session was guided by Jejen Jaenudin, M.Ed. Led, a representative from the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The participants were presented with a draft of guidelines that had been prepared by the LPM team, which was then discussed in depth and constructively by all SPs leaders, education staff, and vice deans for academic affairs of the faculty who were also present.
This Double Degree Cooperation Concert is expected to be an important milestone for UIN Jakarta. With a comprehensive Double Degree Cooperation Guidelines , UIN Jakarta has a strong legal and operational foundation to accelerate double degree programs with international partner universities, while strengthening its image as a modern and globally competitive Islamic education center.
