Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, BERITA SPs: The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Jakarta started the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year by holding an Iftitah Lecture. Located at the Auditorium of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, Thursday, August 28, 2025, this event marked the start of odd semester lectures for the 205/2026 academic year for master's and doctoral students. More than 80 students were also present, filling the room with a high enthusiasm for learning.

This Iftitah lecture carries the theme, "Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies: Tradition and Innovation." This theme aims to invite students to see Islamic studies from a broader and integrated perspective. SPs UIN Jakarta as one of the leading Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, continues to encourage innovation in science, without forgetting the roots of established traditions.

Two experts were present as the main speakers. Prof. Dr. Sukron Kamil, M.Ag, a Professor at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, and Dr. Fuad Jabali, MA, a senior lecturer at SPs UIN Jakarta. This lecture was guided by the moderator, Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA, who also serves as the Secretary of the Master of Islamic Studies Study Program SPs UIN Jakarta.

The event was opened by the Director of SPs UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, MA. In his remarks, Prof. Zulkifli expressed his gratitude to the two speakers for their willingness to share knowledge. He also emphasized that this Iftitah lecture is not just a ceremony, but a symbol of the beginning of a new academic journey for the entire academic community of SPs UIN Jakarta.

The first speaker, Prof. Dr. Sukron Kamil, M.Ag, gave a very profound message to new students. He emphasized, "You enter SPs must start with an open mind, so that it is easier to absorb the knowledge." This message is an important foundation for graduate students to not only master one discipline, but also to be able to integrate it with other fields.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fuad Jabali, MA, provides rich historical insights into interdisciplinary Islamic studies. He explained how the diversity of discipline structures must actually be bound by fundamental values. He said: "The diversity of the structure of the discipline must be united by the two words of the shahada." This statement emphasizes the importance of making Islamic values the main glue in various disciplines studied.

This lecture took place very interactive and lively. The question and answer session became one of the most interesting moments, where many students enthusiastically asked critical questions. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from the beginning to the end of the event, colored by laughter that showed the atmosphere of the lecture that was not rigid.

This Iftitah lecture was attended by the Director of SPs UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, MA, Deputy Director of SPs UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, MA, Head of Master of Islamic Studies Study Program Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D, Secretary of the Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Studies Dr. Maswani, MA, Secretary of the Master of Islamic Studies Study Program Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA, further enlivened the event. Their presence shows the institution's full support for quality academic activities. This Iftitah lecture is a promising start for the academic journey of SPs UIN Jakarta students, with the hope that they can become scholars who are not only intelligent, but also open-minded and innovative.
