SPs UIN Jakarta Holds Public Lecture "Phenomenological Approach in Islamic Studies"
Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, BERITA SEKOLAH: The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again presented academic activities by holding a Public Lecture with the theme "Phenomenological Approach in Islamic Studies". The event, which took place on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, presented a speaker, Prof. Robert Philip Buckley, UNESCO Chair in Global Asia and Humanities from McGill University.
This Public Lecture was held in the Auditorium of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, and was attended by academics, lecturers, and SPs students. Also present at this event were Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, MA (Vice Director of SPs), Dr. Fu'ad Jabali, MA (SPs Lecturer), Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D (Chief of Master Study Program), Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA (Secretary of Master Study Program).
In his presentation, Prof. Robert Philip Buckley discussed in depth the phenomenological approach in Islamic studies. He highlighted how this approach can provide a new perspective in understanding religious texts, religious experiences, and various socio-cultural phenomena related to Islamic studies.
The participants seemed enthusiastic about Prof. Buckley's presentation. The discussion that took place after the presentation further enriched the participants' understanding of phenomenology and its application in Islamic studies. The questions asked by the participants were answered comprehensively by Prof. Buckley.
This Public Lecture activity is one of the efforts of SPs UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to enrich the academic insights of students. By presenting world-class speakers, it is hoped that it can inspire students and lecturers to continue to develop research and studies in the field of Islamic sciences.
In addition, this activity is also a gathering place between academics from various disciplines. Through the ongoing discussions, there is a collaboration that is expected to produce quality scientific works.
SPs UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is committed to continuing to organize academic activities that are beneficial to the wider community. It is hoped that activities such as this Public Lecture can be an inspiration for other universities to contribute to the development of science. (JA)
