SPs UIN Jakarta Students Win Nusantara Academic Writing Award 2025
Salatiga, September 26, 2025 — The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has again made a proud achievement in the national academic arena. One of the students, Siti Rohwati, won the 2025 Nusantara Academic Writing Award (NAWA).
This prestigious event was organized by the Nusantara Institute in a series of annual events entitled "Cultural Dialogue and Nusantara Academic Writing Award". This year, the activity was held at the Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) Hall, Salatiga, on Friday (26/9/2025), in collaboration with the Faculty of Languages and Arts UKSW.
Since it was first held in 2019, NAWA has become a forum for a national post-research writing grant competition for master's and doctoral students' theses and dissertations from various universities in Indonesia. This competition aims to encourage the birth of quality academic works in the fields of education, arts, culture, and religion.
Until 2025, 50 NAWA award recipients have been selected through strict selection. The selection process involved a national jury consisting of academics, professors, and practitioners, including: Sumanto Al Qurtuby, Ph.D (Founder & Director of Nusantara Institute) as Chairman of the Jury, Dr. Tedi Kholiluddin, Prof. Dr. M. Mukhsin Jamil, Prof. Dr. Mudjahirin Tohir, Prof. Dr. Jaenal Effendi, Prof. Asfa Widiyanto, D.Phil, Prof. M. Nur Ichwan, Ph.D, Prof. Dr. Islah Gusmian, Dr. Zastrouw Al Ngatawi, Dr. Deta Maria, and others.
Every year, Nusantara Institute accepts 150-200 applicants. The participants must go through two stages of selection, namely file selection and interview by the jury. The award recipients not only received funding for thesis/dissertation writing and award certificates, but were also involved in various Nusantara Institute programs, such as webinars, writing potpourri books, and writing academic columns on the institution's official portal.
On this occasion, the Head of the Master of Islamic Studies Study Program SPs UIN Jakarta, Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D, was also present to accompany Siti Rohwati. According to him, this award event is quite special because one of the SPs UIN Jakarta master's students was successfully selected as one of the awardees. "I am also proud of this achievement of Siti and hopefully this appreciation will be an encouragement to continue to work," said the short message.
Siti Rohwati's success in becoming the winner of NAWA category B is also proof of the academic quality of SPs UIN Jakarta students in developing research that contributes to the world of education, culture, and religion in Indonesia. (SR)
