SPs UIN Jakarta Welcomes New Students with Study Orientation and Strengthening of Academic Competencies
Auditorium of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, SPs NEWS: - The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a Study Orientation and Strengthening of Academic Competencies for new students of the Odd Semester class of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The event, which took place from August 25-29, 2025 at the Auditorium of Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA, was designed to equip new students with the knowledge and skills needed during their studies at the master's and doctoral levels.
The event was opened directly by the Director of SPs, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, MA In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to the students who have dared to choose to continue their studies at SPs. "You dare to register at SPs means you are brave," he said, motivating the participants to face academic challenges in the future.
The opening session was also attended by the Vice Director, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, MA, as well as the heads and secretaries of the study program, such as Prof. Dr. JM Muslimin, MA, Hamdani, MAg, Ph.D, Dr. Maswani, MA, and Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA.
On the first day, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Rahman, MA, presented material on the Vision, Mission, and Qualifications of S2 and S3 Graduates which are adjusted to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). This session provides an in-depth understanding of the goals and standards expected of SPs graduates.
The material continued with a discussion of the History of SPs, Curriculum, and Course Load delivered by Prof. Dr. JM Muslimin, MA (Head of the Doctoral Study Program) and Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D, (Head of the Master of Islamic Studies Study Program). The first day was closed with an informative session on Academic Administration Procedures, Academic Information System (AIS) Access Simulation, and introduction to campus facilities by Afif Ahmad Faisal, ST, MM, M. Adam Hesa, M.Kom and Jayadi, S.Kom.
The second day of orientation focuses on research skills and information literacy. Dr. Alfida, S.Ag, S.IP, MLIS moderated sessions on Bibliometrics for Mapping Research Trends, Systematic Literature Review (SLR), and the use of reference management applications such as Mendeley and Zotero. This session provides important provisions for students to conduct quality research.
Furthermore, Ulpah Andayani, S.Ag, SS, M.Hum explained the various services available in the library, including access to e-resources, online search strategies, and other academic tools. He also emphasized the importance of academic integrity, Turnitin, and the use of AI for ethical academic purposes.
On the third day, Ummi Kultsum, M.Pd, Ph.D., shared material on Academic Skill, Reading and Writing Skill. These sessions are designed to improve critical reading and scientific writing skills, which are the main foundations in the academic world.
This event was closed with the inaugural lecture with the theme "Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies: Tradition and Innovation" with Prof. Dr. Sukron Kamil, MA. On the last day, the students were also invited to take part in a Campus Tour to get to know more about the campus environment and the facilities available at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. (JA)
