Auditorium Prof. Dr. Suwito, MA SPs UIN Jakarta, SPs NEWS: The Graduate School (SPs) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on Tuesday (29/4/2025), held a Studium Generale event with a theme relevant to contemporary social dynamics, namely "Islamic Philanthropy for Social Justice". The collaboration between SPs UIN Jakarta and the National Amil Zakat Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS RI) is a marker of scientific and practical synergy in realizing social justice through Islamic philanthropic instruments.

Acting as resource persons, Mokhamad Mahdum, SE, MIDEc, Ak, CA, CPA, CWM, who is the Vice Chairman of BAZNAS RI. He thoroughly explored the great potential of Islamic philanthropy in overcoming inequality. The speakers' explanations that were rich in data and concrete examples succeeded in opening the participants' insights into the strategic role of zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf in building a more just and just social order.

The discussion was even more interesting and directed thanks to Dr. Rizqi Handayani, MA, Secretary of the Master of Islamic Studies Study Program, who acted as a moderator. The moderator skillfully sparked fresh ideas and connected the ideas presented by the speakers with relevant academic perspectives. The critical and constructive questions from the participants added weight and depth to the discussion, creating a productive space for dialogue between Islamic philanthropic theory and practice.

This event was opened by the Director of the Graduate School of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli, MA. In his remarks, the Director expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the Studium Generale and emphasized the importance of an in-depth study of Islamic philanthropy in the academic environment. He hopes that this activity can stimulate the birth of innovative ideas and real contributions from academics and students in optimizing the potential of Islamic philanthropy to realize social justice in Indonesia.

Also present at this event was the Head of the Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Studies, Prof. Dr. JM. Muslimin, MA, Head of Master of Islamic Studies Study Program, Hamdani, M.Ag, Ph.D, Secretary of the Doctoral Study Program in Islamic Studies, Dr. Maswani, MA, and Head of TU Subdivision Afif Ahmad Faisal ST, MM.

Participants from Master's and Doctoral SPs students of UIN Jakarta were eager to listen to each presentation and be active in the question and answer session. The Studium Generale is a good forum for them to deepen their understanding of the concepts, principles, and practices of Islamic philanthropy, as well as how its implementation can contribute significantly to creating more equitable social justice.

The synergy between the academic world and practitioner institutions such as BAZNAS RI in the Studium Generale event is a good example in efforts to mainstream Islamic philanthropy as a strategic solution to social problems. It is hoped that this activity will be the first step for future collaborations that are more concrete and have a real impact in realizing the vision of social justice mandated by Islamic teachings.
